This hybrid conference brought together the Rufford grantees who did research across ASEAN countries, 20 participants from 9 countries. Participants attended both on-site and online platforms regarding to the COVID-19 situation. However, everyone had a chance to express their research experience, technique, and networking to strengthen the knowledge exchange in the future. The research topics were grouped together into 5 sessions: continuing collaborative research of Giant Nuthatch, birds and land-use change, DNA research for small mammals, primate survey (including drone technology), and conservation of rare insects and plants. Moreover, participants also shared the obstacles to ecological conservation in the ASEAN region regarding government policy, the difficulty of terrain, human-animal conflict solutions, and self-sustain conservation programs.
