8 Jan 2002 Satu Mare, Romania, Europe Mammals | Education | Bats

Abigel Szodoray

The team is dedicated to the conservation of bats in Romania, home to almost all the European bat species.

The Romanian Bat Protection Association is a growing organisation based in Satu Mare. Romania is host to at least 29 species of bat - only 2 European bat species are not found here.

This project seeks to increase bat conservation and awareness through a programme incorporating various elements - surveys and monitoring, to establish where are the main hibernation and summer roosts; education, through the use of a volunteers for bat protection and monitoring; and public education so that more people are aware of the huge impact the human population has on bats.
