Spatial Modeling for the Search and Conservation of the Endangered Harpy Eagle and King Vulture in Mexico

During the present research and conservation project we will:

1. validate Species Distribution Models (SDM) in the field with the objective of locating the last populations of the harpy Eagle and the King Vulture in Mexico.

2. Evaluate the efficiency of the Species Distribution Models to locate current nesting habitat and areas of presence of the two threatened species of raptors,

3. Engage communities to the conservation of these endangered raptors through environmental education and community-based monitoring (with trained local/indigenous technicians) in efforts to search for the Harpy Eagle and King Vulture.

4. Assess the conservation status of both raptors in Mexico.
