The huemel is an endangered deer and could be an important flagship species for the conservation of the forest. The teams project focuses on regional workshop development and applying field research findings to implement the Huemul Action Plan.

One of the aims is also to evaluate the impact of the cattle presence on huemul habitat selection. This information will be helpful to develop management recommendations to mitigate it.
