This project will survey the populations of threatened species and their habitat in Dobrudja, Romania. It aims to raise conservation awareness among local people and the country’s decision makers. The project will contribute to the protection of three threatened bird species (Imperial Eagle Aquila heliaca, Lesser Kestrel Falco naumanni and Saker Falco cherrug) and to find out more about selected endemic mammals (European Souslik Spermophilus citellus and the Romanian Hamster Mesocricetus newtoni) in the region.

The team aims to provide information for the elaboration of the national Species Action Plans concerning the target species, and to involve local community members in conservation planning and decision-making. The expected results will be achieved through strong cooperation between NGOs and national institutions and the involvement of local stakeholders in the process.
