To study saproxylic beetle diversity in different forest types and to create awareness of its importance in forest ecosystem to students and general public.

Saproxylic beetle diversity will be studied in three different forest types within Punakha district on north-east facing side of Dochula pass. Field sampling will be done during each of the four seasons. Diversity will be assessed by rearing in sacks and also by hand collection within each forest types. The result from the project will be disseminated to general public by means of poster exhibition, talk on saproxylic beetle in three middle and higher secondary schools within the district and to students of CNR. Also voucher specimens would be prepared and kept in National Biodiversity Centre and CNR laboratory for educational purpose.
