The conservation of sea turtles in Colombia is hampered by the lack of scientifically sound research. Little is known about demographic parameters and population trends, or threats currently faced by nesting sea turtles in protected areas of the Colombian Pacific. Moreover, local and regional capacity to develop and support the technical understanding of sea turtle biology is poor among coastal communities, NGOs, and environmental authorities working on the ground.

This project aims to increase scientific knowledge of sea turtle reproductive biology, and at the same time build capacity among local and regional stakeholders for conservation management of sea turtles in the Colombian Pacific.
