This project seeks to inform tourists about the beautiful environment at Tanjung Karang, Central Sulawesi and thereby reduce the litter pollution generated.
The overall aim of this project is to protect the corals and the ecosystem around Tanjung Karang, Central Sulawesi, Indonesia. This beautiful area attracts many local tourists who enjoy a Sunday at the beach. However local people call these days “plastic Sunday” because of the amount of litter left by the tourists who are not aware of the damage it can do.
We have three main objectives:
1.To conserve the marine environment in Tanjung Karang, Central Sulawesi, Indonesia
2.To promote environmental awareness amongst the local community and visiting population
3.To generate revenue for improving management and skills of the fishing community in Tanjung Karang, Central Sulawesi, Indonesia
This will be achieved through the use of a glass bottomed boat, which will take local tourists on a guided informative trip along the coast of Tanjung Karang, showing them the environment and encouraging them to take better care of it when they visit.
