Assessment of Optional Land Uses as Alternative Strategy for Biodiversity Conservation in Pendjari Biosphere Reserve in Benin
This project aims at contributing to the sustainable use of NTFP in Benin through a good organization of their marketing. The research will use value chain analysis to provide details needed.
To make sustainable Non-Timber Forest Products (NTFPs) use, the best way is to create and maintain a market value for them. However, this couldn't be done without good organisation of their marketing. This research will use value chain analysis to provide details needed to improve NTFPs valorisation in Benin. The challenge is to make possible the conservation-though-use paradigm by simultaneously creating incentives for conservation while increasing cash income to local communities. The outcomes of this project will provide natural resources managers and non-profit nature conservancy organizations, with information needed to support the compatibility between nature conservation and people well-being.
