Activities will include community appraisal to raise information on human-forest relationship and awareness raising meetings on biodiversity conservation. This is relevant to addressing habitat issues that threaten the biodiversity of this hotspot and thus the implementation of conservation management practices.
Francesco Rovero received a 2nd RSG Grant Awarded for this project in January 2004. This project will continue the earlier project by broadening the subject and conservation relevance. The project will aim to determine distribution, relative density, habitat requirements and major threats of both diurnal primates and forest antelopes found within the largest moist forest block of the mountainous range, namely Udzungwa Scarp Forest which has been proposed for inclusion in the National Park.
