The field research of endemic Menzbir Marmot population should be done as well as conservation efforts to prevent illegal hunting on them in the area of Sayram-Ugam National Park.
The project is going to achieve the modern understanding of current status, number and distribution of Menzbir Marmot in Kazakh part of its original area (Karjantau range). This knowledge will be used for better organization of the Menzbir Marmot protection. The plots with the high density of animals should be completely excluded from any kind of land use. The limited sheep grazing is allowed now for locals without division the park territory into zones.
