Ecological Niche Modeling of Endemic and Endangered Plant Species of Western Ghats India
Models of conservation zoning and species habitat in Tirunelveli Hills, Western Ghats, India
The Tirunelveli hills in India’s Western Ghats are known for their species diversity, harbouring 2000 flowering plant species of which over seven per cent are endemic. Over the decade, due to land use and changes, the evergreen forest are undergoing species losses, type transition and area loss. Very limited studies were conducted to assess the temporal changes and understand the species and both man-made and natural disturbances to the land.
This study aims to understand and assess these problems using data, topography, soil, satellite imagery and GIS tools. It will attempt to find out the species diversity losses and disturbance through landscape change analysis and intense field phytosociological data.
