Immediate survey and assessments of the remaining primate species of Java.

Halimun and Salak Mountain contain some of Indonesia’s largest remaining lowland and montane forest.

This survey aims to assess the present status of the four primate species -the Javan Gibbon (Hylobates moloch), Grizzled Leaf Monkey (Presbytis comata), Silver Leaf Monkey (Trachypithecus auratus), and Crab-eating macaque (Macaca fascicularis) in Gunung Halimun and Salak National Park.

The project team will then develop a conservation strategy to increase their protection through appreciation of their value by local people and an ecotourism programme for visitors.
