Identification.

Marine ecosystems in Lombok Island are threatened by destructive and selective fishing practices, over fishing, pollution and mass tourism. Developing marine education opportunities for schools and communities is a key long-term conservation management strategy of this globally significant area. Schools and communities on the island of Lombok need more information, training and skills to actively participate in the protection and conservation of marine biodiversity.

I have been working in marine environmental education program since 2008 and Rufford Small Grant provided grant in my first project: “Celebrate the International Year of Biodiversity by Increasing Awareness of Marine Biodiversity among Primary School Children in East Lombok – Indonesia” in 2010-2011. Upon completion of the project, we evaluated the outcomes that we need further development.
