The project on native flora aforestation and nature education aims to create awareness among the locals and young people. The plantation work is a very important need of the day.
The project aim to do aforestation of native species of plants like Acacia nilotica, Cordia rohtii, Salvadora persica in the salt affected and dry desert regions of Kutch. We plan to involve students, teachers and local people in achieving this goal. At least 20 Schools are planned to be covered under our greening efforts in the School. Encouraged by our results of the first attempt we want to cover larger areas. Nature education camps for the School students is gaining interest, many School teachers are approaching us to cover them in nature-education plans of CEDO-Rufford Foundation for Small grant, as they hear this from other Schools.
The Wildlife awareness posters and exhibition also helps a lot in understanding the regions floral and faunal wealth. We plan to have the exhibition in WWF Wildlife week celebration in October, The project RSG grant will certainly help us to reach the remote villages and do meaningful conservation and awareness work in the district of Kutch.
