Assessment of the effect of different patch habitats and landscape structure on richness, abundance, and amphibian diversity in an agricultural landscape
A global problem exists in relation to Amphibian declines. Julian will do research about the relationships between richness, abundance and amphibian diversity in different patch habitats, so as to understand which amphibian species select which sort of patch habitat in a landscape of the Costa Rica Atlantic Zone.
The work will also allow him to establish if landscape variables (patch shape, sizes, the distance between them and others) influence amphibian diversity. The project outcomes will be discussed with local farmers through workshops, so as to ensure that they are aware of influences on biodiversity: after all it is the farmers who manage the biodiversity present on their farms.
