Dusky Grouper is classified as "Endangered" category for the Mediterranean on the red list of the IUCN. In Turkey, fishing is prohibited according to the fisheries regulations. But it has been caught accidentally and/or illegally.

In this project, we aim to determine the historical and current status of the grouper using stereo BRUVs and local ecological knowledge (LEK) surveys with fishers and divers in the Karaburun-Ildır Gulf Special Environmental Protection Area (SEPA).
