26 Feb 2008 North Negros Natural Park, Philippines, Asia Communities | Habitats
This project aims to conduct biodiversity survey in the selected sites of North Negros Natural Park (NNNP) and to determine the species of plants and animals of NNNP and its conservation status. The results of this survey will be used for the management planning of the NNNP.
The results of the study will serve as the baseline data of flora and fauna of North Negros Natural Park (NNNP). This data will be made available to the Management Council of the protected area for inclusion on its protected area management plan. The results will be presented to the municipal and provincial law making bodies and will provide basis for future local and/or provincial environmental ordinances.
In the same way, it will be presented to the local communities within the protected area and will serve as the basis for any future conservation education projects. It will also help us develop species and habitat conservation action plan together with the community for each particular area within NNNP. The data gathered will be used as basis for collaborative conservation projects with other local institutions and organizations for protection, conservation education, etc. of the NNNP and provide basis for sustainable livelihood projects for the people living within or near the park.
