Baru Pangkalan Jambu villages is one of buffer zone in the Southern part of Kerinci Seblat National Park. This village has “ the adat forest ” (tribal forest) based on decree of Head of Merangin District No. 225 date of 15 June 1993, with wide area 754ha.

The illegal activities like illegal logging, occupation, and animal theft, doing by local people are significant factors on destroying of forest ecosystem at the area at this time. This problems because of this Adat Forest only gives benefit of social and ecological only, and community around the forest doesn't get economic benefit, a real important to increase their prosperity.

Therefore, need the poverty alleviations effort for local people by the sustainability management of Adat Forest. One of the effort is developed Non Timber Forest Product (NTFP) that is Dragonbloodss (Daemonorops Sp)Dragonbloodss (Daemonorops Spp) selected to be developed because:

1. High economic value. The selling price of Dragonbloodss at local level shifting Rp 350.000 - Rp 500.000 per KG;

2. High Ecological Value. In practice to cultivating of Dragonbloodss, required tree crop as boom because Dragonbloodss is camomile but its not parasite. So, with conducting Dragonbloods directly also means takes care of forest continuity (stand of tree;

3. The Dragonbloods plants had started rareness because till now the people only take available from the forest, without there are effort to re-plants again (this case even happened in all of Indonesian regions).

Developing of this commodity expected an increase commitment of local community, to protect the sustainability of the forest function and source of livelihoods in their adat forest area. The local people will not cut away the timber because them will lose Dragonbloods crops.

This project will focuses to increase capacity of local people (knowledge and technical skills) to conducting dragoonbloods plant. The main activities:

A. Training on conducting of Dragonbloods;

B. Facilitating on comparative study in order to directly see the process of extracy and seedling on Dragonbloods-Rattans’ Plants;

C. Facilitating to created demonstration plots on conducting of Dragonbloods. This activity becomes the media for local people to practice about conducting technique of dragonbloods directly, and it will be an entry point for developing of dragonblood plants in Baru Pangkalan Jambu Village.
