The project, "Taxonomy, Ecology, and Conservation of the Troglobiotic Harvestmen Species of the Genus Nemaspela Šilhavý, 1966 (Opiliones: Nemastomatidae) in Racha Karst Massif," focuses on the exploration and protection of cave ecosystems, which serve as natural habitats for valuable cave-dwelling invertebrates, such as those of the genus Nemaspela.

This research aims to study the biodiversity and ecology of Nemaspela through scientific investigation. In addition to the scientific work, the project will raise awareness about cave conservation among local communities through educational seminars and guided excursions.

The methodologies employed include field surveys, laboratory and genetic analyses, and community outreach efforts. The expected outcomes include the discovery of new Nemaspela species, enhanced knowledge of their ecology, increased public awareness, and the development of conservation strategies.

This project is a vital initiative for preserving Georgia's unique natural heritage. Research on the Nemaspela genus will provide valuable insights into the adaptations of cave-dwelling organisms and highlight the fragility of cave ecosystems. By involving local communities, the project fosters a sense of responsibility for these hidden natural treasures, ensuring their protection for future generations.
