Vinh Cuu Nature Reserve is one of the largest protected areas in Vietnam that covers 68.370 ha of land. The Nature Reserve is home many globally endangered mammals such as the yellow-cheeked gibbon, black shanked douc langur (Pygathrix nigripes) and Indochinese slivered langur (Trachypithecus villosus), asiatic elephant (Elephas maximus), gaur (Bos gaurus), banteng (Bos javanicus). Vinh Cuu together with its neighbouring forest such as Cat Tien National Park and La Nga State Forest Enterprise forms an important forest complex that is believed to be a good habitat for endangered species such as the yellow-cheeked gibbon.

With the goal enhancing the conservation of yellow cheeked gibbon in Vietnam. This project aims to provide a strong technique assistance to Vinh Cuu nature reserve on training their staffs in gibbon and endangered primate study and conservation which will be useful for their on-going conservation activity. Moreover, this project will also provide a great opportunity for young researchers to gain important field work experience which benefits their future teaching and conservation career.
