This study considers two main objectives: i- estimate and project the demographic and distribution tends of E. chilensis, and ii- design and apply outreach tools into local community.
Chilean winter rainfall-Valdivian Forest biodiversity hotspot harbour several ecosystems types. Eriosyce chilensis is a critically endangered cactus distributed in a unique ecosystem in central coastal Chile. This specie might be impacted by habitat destruction, removal of individuals and depressed pollination rates.
Also, the lack of quantitative assessments of its basic ecology and the lack of public awareness may increase its extinction risk since Chilean society is insensitive to its potential lost. This study considers two main objectives: i- estimate and project the demographic and distribution tends of E. chilensis, and ii- design and apply outreach tools into local community.
