The aim of the SLCS is to develop anti-poaching activities.
Previously known as RATZ, the SLCS continues to build on the successes of anti-poaching activities implemented under the auspices of RATZ and to continue to promote improved environmental and wildlife conservation practices among the main stakeholders of this area, the Zambian people themselves.
Because we have worked alongside, and sometimes in place of, National Parks staff, supplying logistical and personnel back-up in the fight against poaching and snaring in and around South Luangwa National Park for the last five years, the Zambian Wildlife Department (ZAWA) encouraged us to formalise our working arrangement by registering as a bona fide society, hence the name change. In an area of limited opportunity SLCS will continue to provide training, education and employment to individuals from the local communities and our objectives are to expand and develop this support.
