Sustaining Community Participation in Management Elephant Corridor, Elephant Conservation & Mitigation of Man Elephant Conflicts
The project will cover 60 villages of Pallahara Block coming under malyagiri mountain of eastern Ghats The Paribartan team fosters an entrepreneurial spirit in conservation and partners with community-based tribal women group, conservationists & forest administration to develop solutions for human-wildlife coexistence, especially to mitigate man-elephant conflict.
The project put emphasis on the following components:-
1. Telkoi – Pallahara elephant corridor and Habitat Protection
2. Capacity Building of tribal community to function as tracker
3. Changed in cropping pattern with non-lure crop verity
4. Sustainable management of forest, reserves, and water bodies through regeneration, conservation and judicious use and management practices
In detail:
1. The continuation project aims at fostering tribal community, and stakeholder’s participation in protecting elephants in the pursuit of participatory management of Telkoi – Pallahara elephant corridor and re-creation of lost transit paths, combined with grassroots knowledge to secure a future for imperiled Elephas maximus indicus furthering mitigation of Man & Elephant conflict.
2. Capacitate intended tribal partners for adaptation of elephant’s non-lure crops, plantation in fallow forest land and conservation of water bodies.
3. Trained elephant trackers will be refreshed and track elephant herd, monitor movement and patrol to check poaching and habitat depletion
