Tasek Bera, Malaysias only Wetlands of International Importance or Ramsar Site is a freshwater wetland system situated in central Peninsular Malaysia consisting of a complex of wetland habitats, surrounded by lowland tropical forest. The site is internationally important for its conservation values, of which it is significant in harbouring a wide range of endemic and endangered flora and fauna. At Tasek Bera, presently there are 13 endemic species (both plant and animal) and 23 species that are endangered/vulnerable according to IUCN Red Data List of Threatened Animals.

At present, the only comprehensive guide to this information is found in a 87-page Integrated Management Plan which is highly technical, has restricted usage and not user friendly. Hence, the production of a bilingual Bahasa Malaysia/English guide is pertinent where the importance to these species of conservation concern can be publicised.
