Training of foresters and conservationists to implemented high quality and scientifically based monitoring schemes for biodiversity and conservation in Myanmar
Myanmar is opening up with tremendous potential in biodiversity research and conservation needs. However, local organizations and the government have identified a lack of capacity in baseline research, particularly in biodiversity, global change and forestry. The capacity gap is the major obstacle to sustainable use the natural resources and assess the use of natural resources. To mitigate these shortcomings training workshops for Myanmar foresters and conservationists will build capacity for implementing long-term monitoring and to assess success of conservation strategies.
All trainees will learn theory and practice on monitoring of biodiversity and conservation. In addition, trains are expected to implement simple monitoring schemes for birds in their protected area or home vicinity with standardized methods and protocol regimes.
