Sustainable conservation and utilization of trees and forest patches through community action in Sigoma Location Siaya District, Nyanza province, Kenya
The overall aim of the proposed project is to enhance the sustainable use and management of locally adapted endemic and exotic tree species as well as the overall nature conservation and livelihood of the local people in Sigoma. This will be achieved through identification of existing trees and forest patches, collection of seeds and establishment of nurseries with partners from the Ministry of the Environment, Forest Department and other NGOs. Study tours and training sessions will also be done for the various community groups (youth, women and school children).
